About Your Visit
Please see below for the answers to common questions. If you have additional questions, we are always happy to help. Please feel free to visit our Contact Us page and ask us directly.
Time of year
We recommend you visit during the months of October through March when the weather is comfortable and dry. By late March, daytime temperatures may exceed 40C (104°F).
The coldest periods occur in December where temperatures may reach an average low of 12C (53°F) overnight.
The Geminids meteor shower peaks on December 13-14.
Groups
Our prices are based on a minimum of two people.
We can accommodate groups up to 25 people and sometimes more. For larger groups, we work with trusted camel owners and guides from our village.
Children are welcome.
Transport
We provide pickup from Jaisalmer and transportation to the starting area. At the end of the safari, we provide transportation back to Jaisalmer.
Pickup from other nearby locations may be possible upon request.
If you have luggage, we will store it in a safe place during your visit.
Dress by day
If you are fair-skinned, we recommend long pants, a light shirt with long sleeves, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as necessary.
Dress by night
Temperatures may drop to 5C to 10C (41°F to 50°F) overnight in December and January. We supply appropriate bedding and blankets, and we advise bringing a very warm jacket, hat, gloves and socks so that you remain comfortable in camp after the sun goes down and while sleeping.

Cuisine
During your overnight stays and longer safaris we provide delicious Rajasthani cuisine including hot meals, snacks, chai tea and bottled drinking water. We provide basic hot meals out in the desert.
Meals vary depending on the safari you choose. If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies or prefer non-veg, please let us know when booking.
Camel riding
Most of our guests have never ridden a camel before. We will help you become comfortable and explain everything before the journey begins.
The camel will kneel down for you to climb aboard onto the saddle. You will lean back and hold tight to the pommel while the camel stands up. Dismounting is just the reverse.
Sleep
On overnight safaris, our guests sleep beneath the open sky in the desert using pillows, sheets and blankets provided by us.
We do not use tents. Sleeping under the stars is one of the highlights of the experience.
Inclement Weather
While precipitation is rare during the winter months, it is a possibility.
We will arrange temporary shelter, and in the event of extended rain, we may wait it out indoors in the village.
Restroom
Desert safaris take place in remote areas. If you have specific questions or requirements, please contact us and we will explain what to expect.
Language
Our organizers and guides speak Hindi and English.
